For Mike Weinstein and Brian O’Byrne the answer was clear…start up your own brand. Mike had been the CEO of Snapple Beverages and the President of A&W Brands and Brian was the CEO of Yoo-hoo/Orangina. In January of 2005 they came together to form a beverage idea creation shop which they cleverly named the INOV8 Beverage Company. (Actually the guys who owned V-8 didn’t think it was so clever). Anyway, after developing a whole bunch of ideas they decided to actually produce some of them. That’s how HYDRIVE was born.
Now doing a beverage start-up is hard work, very hard work. That’s especially true if you’re used to having other people do everything for you. But Mike and Brian persevered and in July of 2006, launched HYDRIVE in New England and began a roll-out across the U.S. Their goal was simple, grow HYDRIVE to the point where they could hire lots of people to do all the work, so they could return to their old jobs of telling others what to do. They haven’t quite gotten there yet but they are adding some real qualified people to the team like Charly-Ann, Conor, Marke, Art, Charlie, Colleen, Justin, Liz, Ernie, Brian, Robert, Tony, David, Leo, Deb, Patrick, Bob, Mike, and Lee. Mike and Brian are still filling out Fedex forms and packing boxes, but now they have other people helping.
They started selling HYDRIVE chews in April of 2009 and everyone is pretty excited about them (must be all that extra caffeine). When sales get large enough they will buy new couches for their Rye, New York offices (they found the old ones in the hallway and grabbed them before the garbage man arrived) and several large company jets. Until then, they will continue to sell HYDRIVE to faithful consumers like you, one bottle at a time.
We wouldn't mind knowing a bit about you as well. You can just drop us a line by email or click here. Also, if you have a moment, we would like to hear your thoughts on HYDRIVE.
